Beautifully Restored Nottinghamshire Barn Conversion
Beautifully restored Nottinghamshire barn conversion. Retaining many original features but adding modern technology.
This beautiful barn in Nottinghamshire has been recently lovingly restored. The clients came to Martin to help them design a kitchen empathising the architectural features they were able to retain. Their family lived locally, so the brief was to be designed for two, however could cater for family and friends. They wanted a space that would bring the outdoors in, somewhere they could easily sit with a coffee or enjoy their meal whilst enjoying the beautiful country views. The original barn doors had been glazed with large opening doors. This allowed light to flood into the space and appreciate the beautiful countryside the property enjoyed. Glazing the drying open bricks restored a feature which Martin framed with furniture. This gives practical storage however still attractive in the open planned room. A large island unit gives clear definition to the footprint of the kitchen. Painted in Little Greene Paint Company's Sage Green it gives additional storage and food prep, although allows the cook to still be fully involved when cooking.
